Boulders on Carman Hill
The boulders shown here lie within the outer enclosure, but not the inner enclosure, of a hill-fort. See NS3779 : Ancient hill-fort on Carman Hill for the main description of the fort. Click on the end-note title for related pictures, and see the annotated satellite view linked from the end-note as an index to these pictures and their positions in the fort.
See NS3779 : Boulders on Carman Hill for a view from these boulders from the other side. NS3778 : Carman Reservoir is in the background of the present photograph.
A cold mist lingers over the lower ground, particularly in the valley of the River Leven (left to centre) and over the Clyde (background right). The plateau of the Kilpatrick Hills is in the background, with NS4274 : Dumbuck Quarry at its end, behind the leftmost part of the reservoir. Double-peaked Dumbarton Rock can also be seen, faintly, through the haze behind the reservoir.
