Abercorn Parish Kirk
Abercorn Parish Kirk
This is one of the oldest Christian sites in Scotland. It is thought to have been founded in 681 AD. The present kirk has been built, rebuilt and added to many times, starting in the 12th century. The additions abutting the south wall are, from left to right, the Philpstoun enclosure (1727, with shaped pediment), the Binns aisle (1618) and the Duddingston aisle (1608).
