Sandown Park Racecourse
A view across part of Sandown Park Racecourse between races on a beautiful crisp day in early December. Unusually, there is a Golf Course enclosed by the racecourse; some of the bunkers and flags can be seen.
Looking at the jumps on the racecourse, the flimsy obstacles with orange verticals are on the hurdles course, while on the right can be seen part of one of the more substantial "fences" of the steeplechase course.
Sandown is a clockwise course, so the horses run towards the camera as seen in this view. The illuminated boards in the foreground belong to the bookmakers. Each board displays the odds offered for each horse in the forthcoming race by that particular bookmaker - they used to be chalk on blackboards when I used to go to the races more regularly twenty or more years ago.
