TQ3180 : Birch trees by the Jubilee Walkway

taken 13 years ago, near to City of London, The City of London, England

Birch trees by the Jubilee Walkway
Birch trees by the Jubilee Walkway
The trees make an attractive filter or permeable screen between the busy Jubilee Walkway along the South Bank of the Thames and the grassy open space in front of Tate Modern. While an exotic species might be expected in such a prestigious location, all the visible characteristics strongly suggest native Silver Birch (Betula pendula). They are seen in context in TQ3180 : Birches outside the Tate Modern.
