Bethel Terrace, Brearley Lane
This was built as a Baptist chapel; the date on the date stone looks like 1843, but according to Malcolm Bull’s Calderdale Companion the chapel opened on 12 November 1845, and was designed so that it could be converted into cottages, which is what happened when the Baptists moved to larger premises 100m to the west in 1875. Apart from the datestone, the shape of the gable-end is typical of a chapel rather than of cottages.
