Railway overbridge, Oxenhall Lane
Railway overbridge, Oxenhall Lane
This picture shows the parapets of a bridge over the dismantled Gloucester - Ledbury railway line. The road bends quite sharply immediately behind me, which accounts for the repairs to the right-hand parapet, and the subsequent damage to those repairs! The railway line was, for the most part, built on the course of the Gloucester - Hereford canal, which was outdated even before it opened. However, when the canal was converted by the GWR, they built this section from scratch to avoid Oxenhall canal tunnel, which even then was not in the best condition.
