Salvador Dali sketch
Dali's sketch of his masterpiece Christ of St John of the Cross, both of which hang in Kelvingrove Museum. Dali presented the sketch to Dr Tom Honeyman, Director of the museum in 1952, who negotiated the purchase of the painting with Dali for the knockdown price of £8,200, despite fierce local opposition at the time. It was a shrewd investment by Dr Honeyman as the painting is now worth over £60,000,000.
