Big Waters Nature Reserve
Big Waters Nature Reserve
A large but shallow mining subsidence pond, now converted to a Nature Reserve owned by Northumberland Wildlife Trust. Despite the bitter wind, there were a large number of birds on the pond, notably mallard and wigeon. Also, as seen here, cormorants and black-headed gulls.
