NF7935 : Loch Airigh Amhlaidh

taken 13 years ago, near to Tobha Mòr, South Uist & Benbecula, Na h-Eileanan an Iar, Scotland

Loch Airigh Amhlaidh
Loch Airigh Amhlaidh
Sluice (left) and fishpass (right) on the outlet of the loch. The fishpass allows access for salmon/sea trout to the loch when the sluice gate is dropped (shut). The problem of how to pronounce the name of the loch is usually overcome locally by referring to it as Upper Roag.
