Less than a year after the work started on this project, the only trace of the works consists in the small fenced enclosures along the route (the strip on the right), leading from the Water Treatment Works in the distance. The fencing surrounds the inspection or test pits. See TF3596 : They're pinching our water!.
The Covenham-Boston water pipeline was started in March 2012. The aim is to pipe water from Covenham reservoir to Miningsby reservoir, and from there to Boston, where it is needed for a rapidly growing population boosted by the many EU nationals who have come in search of work in the vegetable fields.
At the time of writing, the section as far as Miningsby has been completed.
