Snowdon from Bleaklow!
Comparison with the excellent Bleaklow panorama at Link
confirms that the twin-peaked mountain to the left of this picture is Snowdon. The picture was taken from near the Wain Stones on Bleaklow in the Peak District - a distance of 96 miles as the crow flies. The apparent sea in between is the Cheshire Plain, filled with haze as there was a temperature inversion (someone I met nearby said their in-car thermometer went from 0 degrees to 9 degrees as they drove up the Woodhead Pass from Sheffield). Also visible from Bleaklow were the Three Peaks of Yorkshire (Whernside 58 miles) and the North York Moors (Black Hambleton 66 miles).
From left, the mountains in this picture are Snowdon (96 miles), Glyder Fawr (93), Tryfan (92), Carnedd Dafydd (91), Carnedd Llewelyn (90) and Foel Fras (89). The cloud of steam in front of Snowdon is possibly SJ4475 : Stanlow Oil Refinery and/or SJ4776 : Kemira GrowHow fertiliser plant, Ince.
