The Outwood Trail is a route for walkers, cyclists and horseriders along the former Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway line through ancient clough woodlands between Radcliffe and Prestwich . It forms part of the Irwell Sculpture Trail and National Route 6 of the Sustrans cycle network. This view is looking towards Outwood Viaduct (SD7806 : Outwood Viaduct ) The telephone exchange building and the tower of St Thomas' Church (SD7807 : St Thomas and St John Church with St Philip, Radcliffe in Radcliffe town centre are visible across the viaduct.
National Cycle Network Route 6
National Route 6 of the National Cycle Network passes through Watford, Luton, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Market Harborough, Leicester, Derby, Nottingham, Worksop, Sheffield, Manchester, Blackburn, Preston, Lancaster, Kendal and Windermere, and will connect London and Threlkeld (nr. Keswick) in Cumbria when complete.
