SP7155 : Grand Union Canal: Gayton Junction (2)

Grand Union Canal: Gayton Junction (2)
Grand Union Canal: Gayton Junction (2)
Taken in a snowstorm, snow has settled on the already frozen canal and no boat movements have disturbed the ice at the junction. The Northampton Arm of the Grand Union Canal, completed in 1815, goes straight ahead, while the Main Line passes left to right, (and right to left!) in the foreground. The finger post sign informs that Brentford is 77 miles southwards to the right, Braunston 16 miles northwards to the left, and Northampton 4 miles straight on to the north-east.
