Tidford Cottages, Bell Lane, Lechlade
Grade II Listed cottages.
Link The row of cottages on the left were originally built in the early to mid-17th century, but after a fire in 1996 were completely rebuilt. No.1, the nearest to the photographer, was originally the house of the ford keeper, hence its name; the ford was used to cross the Thames before Halfpenny Bridge was built. In nos. 2, 3, and 4 church organ pipes were made, so there was no middle floor. No. 5 was the Falcon public house, behind which was an oast house (now destroyed). No. 7 was one of the town's two breweries, and in the range facing the camera (nos. 9, 10 and 11), beer was stored. The houses to the right are built on the site of a workshop. See
