Toll Bar House faces a major roundabout allowing the traffic onto and from Derby Road (the A609) from where this picture was taken. Nottingham Road; the Chalons Way relief road (the A6007); Stanton Road (the A6096) and several smaller roads are also served by this roundabout. The original two-storey Toll Bar House that was designed by the Ilkeston architect Harry Tatham Sudbury was built for the Derbys & Notts Electric Power Company and was completed in 1930. The third storey was added in 1937. At present it is being used for Primary Health Care Trust purposes.
