Whittle Monument, Lutterworth
Most visitors to Lutterworth will pass the roundabout to the south of the town where the by-pass meets the A426, close to the M1 exit. In 2003 this striking replica of a Gloster E.28/39 was installed there and it has become something of a landmark. Sir Frank Whittle, credited with inventing the jet engine, did much of his development work in the town and local people are very proud of the connection.
