Shadows on the market
A cold but dry Saturday on Hyde Market. The sun casts a sharp shadow of one of the benches across the market ground. The children's carousel can be seen the background.
Cooke's Children's Carousel
The roundabout on Hyde Market was manufactured by Halsteads of Sowerby Bridge in 1897. It was established on Hyde Market in 1919 by John William (Jack) Greaves. In the 1920s he passed it to his daughter Lily and her husband Bill Cooke. It has now been in the Cooke family for three generations.
