Uneasy Truce
Uneasy Truce
At the Alverstone Mead Nature Reserve, on the Isle of Wight, these two black-tail squirrels dominate the feeding stump. They both seem to think that all the food belongs to them, and chase away the other squirrels.

It is very rare to see two squirrels on top of the stump, which measures about 12 inches across. It's interesting to hear just how vocal squirrels can be; they like their own space and, at best, tolerate other squirrels.
