NZ2331 : End of terrace in Binchester

taken 12 years ago, near to Middlestone Moor, County Durham, England

End of terrace in Binchester
End of terrace in Binchester
The name Binchester betrays a Roman connection to this small settlement north of Bishop Auckland which consists of one long terrace in several segments plus sundry other houses in shorter streets. The houses in view are of the east end of that main row which is Granville Terrace, named presumably after the Victorian politician Granville Leveson-Gower, the 2nd Earl Granville who three times was Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
(Notes: [1] The site of the Roman fort, Binchester, is nearby. [2] Other streets in Binchester are Gladstone Terrace, Pitt Street and Peel Street.)
