taken 12 years ago, near to Clitheroe, Lancashire, England

The Keep, Clitheroe Castle
The Keep, Clitheroe Castle
Opinions seem to differ as to the origins of this castle, but it was probably attributed to Robert de Lacy in 1186.
This is of motte and bailey design, the keep being one of the smallest in the country - the curtain wall having long since disappeared.
