Wreck of the Samson
The Samson was a crane barge which left the port of Liverpool on 9th December 1987 under tow to Malta. On 11th December, in a storm, the tow line broke off the coast of Wales and after repeated attempts to re-tether and the rescue of two men who were on board at the time by an RAF Sea King helicopter from RAF Brawdy, the Samson travelled across the Irish sea overnight and ran aground in the early morning of 12th December on Ram's Head, Ardmore.
