taken 13 years ago, near to Alnwick, Northumberland, England

The East Headshunt at Lionheart Station
The East Headshunt at Lionheart Station
Working on the Aln Valley Railway Project.
A headshunt allows the locomotive having pulled a train into a terminus station to uncouple and go round its train to pull it out of the station again.
The trackbed in the foreground will lead to Alnmouth, eventually.
