taken 12 years ago, near to Alston, Cumbria, England

Twenty Miles to Anywhere
Twenty Miles to Anywhere
Not only is Alston the highest market settlement in England, at about 1000 feet above sea level, it is also remote. This old milestone at the junction of Station Road and Front Street shows that the nearest towns are all at a radius of about 20 miles from here.
