Farmland at the edge of Pot Ridings Wood
With a distant view of Sprotbrough Flash. Subsidence from coal mining created this flash in 1924. It is within the magnesian limestone [Cadeby Formation] gorge of the River Don. Sprotbrough Flash has been one of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust's nature reserves since 1981. The Sprotbrough Gorge has been an SSSI since 1988.
