Ormskirk Railway Station
A view of Ormskirk's railway station from the nearby road bridge. Merseyrail EMU 508134 stands at the southern end of platform.

The station has only a single platform; the southern end is used by Merseyrail's electric units, whilst Northern Train's diesel units terminate at the northern end. The trains are separated by a large buffer (which is just visible immediately behind the train in this photograph), so that passengers wishing to go from one to the other have to walk a dozen yards or so along the platform to move between trains.

The station originally opened in 1849 having been built for the East Lancashire Railway. The station building, which dates from the 1860s, is Grade II listed (LinkExternal link British Listed Buildings).
