Egyptian Goose (Alopochen aegyptiacus)
An Egyptian Goose (Alopochen aegyptiacus) alongside the pond on Godstone Green (see TQ3551 : The Pond, Godstone Green for a wider view), one of a pair there that day. Although native to Africa, the Egyptian Goose has been popular in wildfowl collections for three or so centuries. Over the years some have escaped, leading to a small but growing feral population, and they are regularly seen on water bodies in this part of Surrey.

For a wider view of the pond and the buildings in the background, see TQ3551 : The Pond, Godstone Green.
