Loch Carron, Plockton
Plockton
Plockton was conceived as a planned fishing village at the end of the 18th century by the local landowner, Sir Hugh Innes, who was seeking to enhance the value of his estate. The herring fishing industry thrived for half a century after which it fell into decline. Today the village has regained some fishing activity, nowadays for prawns, and there is a substantial tourist business with a high proportion of properties here operating as holiday lets. Boats run seal-watching tours for visitors.
