The sturdy west tower is typical of its era (late Georgian / early neo-Gothic).

St Mark's Church, Clerkenwell

An Anglican parish church, built in 1827 by William Chadwell Mylne. He was surveyor to the New River Company who donated the land for the church and square. It is early Victorian Gothic style in brick with stone dressings and a stone west end. After WW2 it was reconstructed with an unusual acoustic ceiling supported by plain metal columns. The other notable feature is the stained glass East window by Goddard and Gibbs (1962) showing the Ascension, and incorporating scenes of the New River.

The church is now grade 2 listed (list entry number 1298025). A full history can be found on the parish's website LinkExternal link
