Ireland lost more than a million people to famine and emigration in the mid-19th century: most of the population existed in appalling poverty. In Dublin today you can't miss the signs of capital investment and wealth. These bronze figures on the quayside, sculpted by Rowan Gillespie, are a stark reminder of the past.
