taken 12 years ago, near to Barking, Barking And Dagenham, England

In the background is the road junction with the A406 North Circular heading right to Ilford and Wandstead.
12 new bicycle routes, were announced in 2008 by Mayor Ken Livingstone, with the aim of creating continuous routes into central London by the end of 2012.
As of 2012 only four such routes, CS3 (Barking to Tower Gateway), CS7 (Merton to the City), CS2 (Bow to Aldgate) and CS8 (Wandsworth to Westminster) are operational; the others are now scheduled to be completed by 2015.
Most of the Super Highways are off-road.
This route will connect Tower Bridge in London with Fakenham in Norwich. Passing through East London close to the Thames, Route 13 then heads north from Tilbury to Chelmsford in Essex. After a stretch on National Route 1 (also part of EuroVelo 2) National Route 13 resumes at Colchester and continues north to rejoin National Route 1 just south of Fakenham in Norfolk.
