Propeller of RMS Lusitania
Propeller of RMS Lusitania
One of four such propellers. RMS Lusitania was owned by Cunard along with her sister ship Maurentia. She plied between Liverpool and New York but was sunk off the Southern Irish coast by the German submarine U-20 on 7th May 1915 with the loss of 1,201 lives. She sank within 20 minutes of being torpedoed. Regarded as an outrage as it was deemed she was a passenger vessel.
