Non-stop Steam Engineman's Special
This non-stop Steam Engineman's Special ripped past Watchet's narrow station at a considerable lick for a heritage line. A truly impressive sight, that looks surprisingly like the reality of this same station under BR control in the 1960s. One huge difference being that the locos now look quite immaculately turned out. The West Somerset Railway must generate quite a bit of income (and a good roster of volunteer drivers and firemen) from such training sessions.
The footbridge (then closed for safety reasons) has now been replaced with an almost identical fibreglass structure. The old goods shed on the right is Watchet's Boat Museum.
