NS0530 : Becalmed

taken 11 years ago, near to Kingscross, Isle of Arran, North Ayrshire, Scotland

Becalmed
Becalmed
A cutter-rigged ketch is completely becalmed on the glass-like dead-calm waters between Holy Island and Arran. Not a breath of wind was there to help them on their way ... but a few minutes later the sails were down and she was moving ... handy to have an engine in such circumstances.
I am obliged to fellow contributor, Gordon Brown, for informing me that this boat is a cutter-rigged ketch. Cutter-rigged because she has two sails 'at the front' and a ketch because she has two masts with the front one being the taller.
