Kentsford Farm Level Crossing
Kentsford Farm Level Crossing
Farm and pedestrian use only. A favourite spot for taking video and photo footage of the West Somerset Railway. The photographer is stood on the Old Mineral Line footpath/bicycle route between Watchet and Washford - which runs parallel with the West Somerset Railway along most of its route. Watchet to the right, and Washford to the left. LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
On the other side of the railway, walkers can either turn right up a farmtrack/footpath, or left up a rather overgrown (but still popular) footpath through what some locals call The Common. The right fork is the favourite of the videographers, as it allows trains to be filmed along the stretch of track that used to include Kentsford passing-loop and signal-box (closed in the 1960s, but the loop might possibly be reinstated at some point in the future).
