A barber's pole in Annan
A barber's pole in Annan
The red and white stripes of a barberís pole is the traditional sign for a barberís shop. The origins of the pole go back to the barber surgeons of medieval times who performed bloodletting, minor surgical procedures and tooth extractions. For a full view of the shop front, see NY1966 : Mr Graham's Barber Shop, Annan.
