Homersfield Bridge viewed from the south
In 1869 Sir Shafto Adair of Flixton Hall commissioned the Ipswich architect Henry Eyton to build a bridge to replace the existing one spanning the River Waveney, the Norfolk - Suffolk border. The wrought-iron framework of the arch is encased in concrete and is of considerable historic interest as a forerunner of modern reinforced concrete structures. The present bridge, built in 1990, makes use of the abutments of the old bridge, which was probably made of wood. Seven administrative boundaries meet at the centre of the bridge.
