SO4108 : Part of the Pitched Stone Courtyard, Raglan Castle

Part of the Pitched Stone Courtyard, Raglan Castle
So-called because this large service courtyard is made of late Tudor stone cobbles and has quite a pitch or camber to it.

Here visitors and supplies would have been received and victuals carried into adjacent office wing, castle kitchens or pantries and storage facilities such as cellars. Off the courtyard were chambers for the senior servants.

Again, all very, very impressive.
