The Broomway Tidal Byway
This 'ford' is found at Wakering Stairs, Great Wakering. The byway is owned by the MOD and is only open at the weekends or at their discretion, when firing ceases. The Broomway is an ancient tidal causeway of 6 miles along Maplin Sands, providing access to Foulness Island before the bridge over Havengore Creek was constructed.
