Steps into a tower
Steps into a tower
For whatever reason, the access door into each wind turbine tower is located several metres above ground level, and is accessed by a metal staircase. This view looks past the base of turbine number 13 out of 18, with number 14 centrally in the picture.
Edinbane windfarm 2013

The Edinbane wind farm was officially opened on Thursday 1st July 2010 by Conservative MP David Mundell, Under-Secretary for State for Scotland. It is owned by Vattenfall Wind Power - a Dutch company. The windfarm comprises 18 Enercon 2.3 MW wind turbines, with a maximum turbine height of 99.5 metres. The turbine towers are 67 metres (215 feet) high, blade diameter 66 metres (216 feet). The windfarm produces enough electricity to power over 22,000 homes.

The main access to the site is from the A863 in NG3042 with a light vehicle access from Upper Edinbane in NG3550. The wind farm buildings and turbines are in NG3447, NG3544, NG3545, NG3546, NG3547, and NG3548.
