The connection between the Great Northern and Midland Railway lines was East of the two Shipley stations and West (on the MR) of the junction of the Apperley Bridge and Baildon lines. It seems the connection to the MR, opened in Nov 1875, was principally used for goods traffic. It seems unlikely the connection was used by through passenger trains for Skipton because the North side of the Shipley triangle didn't have platforms; they would have had to use the Bradford line and then reverse South of the MR station. There is considerable detail about the GN branch in Martin Bairstow's book "The Great Northern in West Yorkshire" (ISBN 1-871944-19-8). Passenger services were ended in 1931 due to competition from local trams.
