The Wey Navigation below Trigg's Lock (2) - with alders
This stretch of the Navigation is not embanked and appears fairly natural, but an old meander (to the west, behind the alders) shows that the original course of the river wasn't nearly as straight.

Nearby, for the first time in 2013, I heard the song of willow warbler, chiffchaff, whitethroat and blackcap - all summer migrants, and in all likelihood very recently arrived.
