Quadrant Tower Glasson Cumbria
Quadrant Tower Glasson Cumbria
This structure is one of several buildings on this stretch of the Cumbrian coast left over from training and calibrating World War Two bomber aircraft. Observers would have taken cover here to note the accuracy of bombs aimed at targets out in the Solway Firth. This part of the country was rather militarised during the war, a veteran pointed out large ammunition sheds still standing on the Scottish side where he had served.
