Sir James Duke's Drinking Fountain - detail
Sir James Duke's Drinking Fountain - detail
This photo shows an image on Sir James Duke's Drinking Fountain. This image can be obscured by shadow as it is in a recessed position. The fountain was installed in 1860 as a gift from Sir James Duke who had been Lord Mayor of London in 1848-1849.
Inscriptions on the two cartouches and round the bowl of the fountain have become weathered and are now illegible. The drinking fountain is in railings outside the church of St Dunstan-in-the West, Fleet Street.
