Farriers at the "Festival of the Heavy Horse"
Him-indoors (who used to work in engineering in the olden days, and knows all about it, etc etc) tells me that blacksmithing is all about letting the hammer do the work ........ (as if the hammer lifts itself??!!) - it looks like pretty-hard graft to me! This pair of farriers are making shoes for the patiently-waiting Clydesdale: the man in the blue shirt is brushing-down the shoe which has just come out of the fire, to remove soot and iron-shards, the man on the left is at the next stage, shaping the red-hot metal by beating it on the anvil. See NT9334 : The first heavy horse festival comes to the UK.
