This is the oldest part of the town and the Market Cross is nearby NY9425 : Market Cross, Middleton In Teesdale The Parish Church, above on Town Head, only dates from 1880 but there was one here much earlier. A single arch window remains of the C13th church but now stands on its own just right of centre.
