"The Tory", Wooler
"The Tory", Wooler
This raised mound, Tower Hill, is known locally as "The Tory". Alongside the beautifully-carved war memorial are the remains of a fortified tower, dating from circa 1550, which replaced a 12th-century wooden castle. See NT9928 : Tower Hill, Wooler.
