Site of the (former) British Museum tube station, High Holborn, WC1
British Museum station was built in 1900, when Holborn station did not serve the Central line. It was closed in 1933 when Central line platforms were built at Holborn instead of building a very long connecting foot tunnel between the two stations.

The original surface building was demolished in 1989 - but a photo of it (and other info about the station) can be seen at LinkExternal link. 133 High Holborn is now offices of the Nationwide Building Society. See also TQ3081 : High Holborn / New Oxford Street, WC1.
