Carved stone panel, Aesica Roman fort
Carved stone panel, Aesica Roman fort
This panel, set into a drystone wall above the old fort's eastern rampart, is close to one of the original entrances. It would probably have once held some sort of inscription, perhaps the fort name or that of its occupying garrison unit?
