Charles Grey, 1764-1845 (2nd Earl Grey), Prime Minister from 1830 to 1834, stands atop his 41 metre (135 ft) column in Grey Street. He is best remembered for his creation of Earl Grey tea which he flavoured with oil from the bergamot orange (source Wikipedia),
