Boarding the Teign Ferry, Shaldon beach
The Teign ferry is one of the oldest working passenger ferries in England. Passengers board by a stout non-slip plank that is raised and shipped in the boat for the crossing to Teignmouth. A ferryman assists passengers (not customers) up the narrow plank. Across the rivermouth is the Point and the back beach.
